The ensemble plays original compositions that borrow elements from modern gospel, pop punk, and several sub genres of African music and combine them with the quintet’s mutual foundation in jazz. Originally known as Bureh Bk & The Shop, the ensemble was established in early 2020 by Bureh. During 2021, the group recorded their debut EP “Forward Motion” and released it in March 2022. The ensemble continues to perform at venues throughout Toronto with the goal of becoming a staple in the Canadian jazz scene.”
