The correct showtime is 9:00 to 11:00 pm. “The Shop is a Toronto based jazz quintet. The ensemble plays original compositions that borrow elements from modern gospel, pop punk, and several sub genres of African music and combine them with the quintet’s mutual foundation in jazz. Originally known as Bureh Bk & The Shop, the ensemble was established in early 2020 by Bureh. During 2021, the group recorded their debut EP “Forward Motion” and released it in March 2022. The ensemble continues to perform at venues throughout Toronto with the goal of becoming a staple in the Canadian jazz scene.”

The Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival brings world-class music to Barrie, the City of Barrie recognizes the festival's cultural and economic impact on the city and considers the festival to be one of its signature events.

Omar will share life-long stories of encounters dealing with racial stereotypes, ignorance, entitlement, and privilege present in our present day society. A retrospective on how historical issues of global slavery, racism, and colonization have adversely affected and shaped our current societal norms, and perspectives leading to the breakthrough successes of North American people of colour and mixed race.
